Budding builders can take part in a manufacturing camp this summer for middle school and high school students hosted by Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate & Leisure College.
The camp is for students ages 11-16 and takes place July 30-Aug. 3 at Sandburg’s Center for Manufacturing Excellence, 2051 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., on the Main Campus in Galesburg. The camp will run from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. July 30-Aug. 2 and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 3.
Participants will learn about various types of manufacturing through hands-on activities, company tours, guest speakers and more. Family members may attend a certificate of completion ceremony on the final day of the camp.
A limited number of full scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis thanks to the generous support of camp sponsors. The scholarship covers tuition fees, lunches, snacks and a T-shirt.
After all scholarships have been awarded, camp registration will cost $59, so participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Registration also includes a $25 deposit that will be refunded after the participant completes all five days of the camp. The early registration deadline is noon July 2; final registration deadline is noon July 20.
The summer manufacturing camp is made possible through the generous support of the following sponsors:
